January 2011
We're still super busy keeping the shops stocked with all our stuff. At this time of year we're also starting to make arrangements for next season. Hopefully another few weeks and we'll catch up enough to get out riding ourselves
October 2010
We're currently working flat out to make sure the shops have everything in stock for the start of the season. Almost everything is now delivered and all is looking good. Our main news from the summer is that Miranda (Dave's wife and Sam and Will's mum) died in July after a short illness. We miss her.

Ftwo rider Stefan Gimpl takes the Barcelona big air, to add to his London Freeze title and now has a clear lead in the World Cup rankings.

Ftwo rider Stefan Gimpl has won the London Freeze. Look out for the interview coming up in Document magazine. Below is the write-up from the F.I.S. website F.I.S. website
Gimpl victorious in season's first big air in London
What a day for Stefan Gimpl: The Austrian snowboard veteran not only celebrated his career's seventh World Cup triumph at the season's first big air competition of the LG Snowboard FIS World Cup. The rider from the Salzburg countryside also made himself a fantastic birthday present. Turning 30 in front of 15,000 spectators at Battersea Power Station in London, the World Cup title defender relegated Switzerland's Gian-Luca Cavigelli and Domen Bizjak from Slovenia to the second and third rank respectively.
Besides the young guns with their "Backside 1260's" (Ulrik Badertscher, NOR) or "Frontside 1260's" (Janne Korpi, FIN) Gimpl stood out with his great style which made the tricks look so easy and him being able to stick them smoothly even if the 30-years-old had to struggle with his shaky legs right before the final attempt. "I was very nervous up there although actually nothing could have gone wrong as I was lucky over the last years living on the sunny side of life. It seems that someone is meaning well for me."
The World Cup leader was able to stomp a "Frontside 1080", his "so far best in my whole life" and then a "Cab 900" after the spectator crowd had serenaded him "Happy birthday".
October 2009
Endeavor rider, Mike Austin took 7th place at the Battle of Britain, then had the task of warming up the crowd for the London Freeze World Cup event. Here's what he made of it all.
Hi Sam,
Where did you see ther results? Yea I got to the semi-final and all I had to beat was a backside 1 but I didn't quite get a good landing. Would have been in the top 4 otherwise.
Then on Saturday I was a 'front runner' for the FIS comp. I just had to speed test the jump before the qualifiers & final. So before the final the crowd had gathered and the MC had built it all up and I was the first to drop in! It was awesome, I heard the crowd cheer as I was in the air. The sound of over 10,000 people watching me, i'll never forget it. I was shaking after, thank god I landed my trick too. I did a back 1 nose grab and got it nailed, the riders waiting to drop in even cheered me for it so the guys at the top said.
The crowd didn't know I wasn't actually a finalist, but they all took pictures as i walked off anyway. Definatly a highlight my year! :o)

More Endeavor success at UK competitions. Matt macWhirter and Andy Nudds get podium positions at the British Snowboard Invitational Championships at the Metro show in London. Here is the write up from the British Snow Tour.
British Snowboard Invitational Championships
The Snowboarders kick started the British Invitational Championships, which saw the UK’s top riders, including Jamie Nicholls, Andy Nudds and Jack Shackleton charge the kicker. MC’s James Thorne and Pat Sharples excited the crowd and instigated mass Mexican waves as each rider dropped in and pulled out their finest tricks with the hopes of making it through to the final rounds. After super smooth riding from all riders the top four to make it through and battle it out in the finals were, Jaime Nicholls, Danny McCormick, Matt MacWhirter and Andy Nudds.
The finals were a triumphant result for the Halifax area with all three podium spots going to riders haling from the local dryslope. One of the UK’s best riders Jaime Nicholls pulled a super styled and controlled front 720 out of the bag to take home the British Snowboard Invitational Title and the gold. Matt MacWhirter one of he UK’s most effortlessly stylish riders had been riding super strong all comp and narrowly missed out on the first spot, taking second with a frontside 720. One of the UK’s finest big kicker riders, Andy Nudds, landed a massive corked frontside 720 to take the third and final podium spot.
British Snowboard Invitational Championship Results
1st - Jamie Nicholls – Halifax
2nd - Matt MacWhirter – Halifax Endeavor
3rd - Andy Nudds – Halifax Endeavor

We've just got back from northern France where the Endeavor Team were out at the Westbeach Snowflex Championships grand final. This was the fourth year the competition was held and there was a great turn out.
UK Endeavor riders Matt Macwhirter, Mike Austin and Andy Nudds were representing and despite the slope running slower than everyone would like Mike and Andy qualified through the Jam session format to the 3 man Super Final. It was Andy, who now seems to have picked up the winning habit who walked away with first place managing to generate enough speed to launch into a frontside 7 off the big kicker and then went on to nail all three rails on the way to victory. Mike finished a joint second with a super floaty backside 180 of the big wedge and a solid rail line.
All in all a great weekend away and congratulations to Mike and Andy.

Endeavor riders have been cleaning up at UK competitions
Andy Nudds: British Snow Tour Big Air Champion and Mini Brits Slopestyle Champ
Congratulations to Andy Nudds for winning the Big Air title at Milton Keynes last weekend.
The competition witnessed the biggest indoor snow kicker ever shaped with a 14 metre flat to clear. Andy always the bridesmaid and never the bride shook off the curse and beat Jack Shackleton and Sparrow Knox to the top of the podium with a massive frontside 720.
All this two week after he had clinched the Slopestyle crown at the British Artificial Snowboard Championships. Good on ya Nuddsy.
Also check out Andy and fellow Endeavor team rider Matt Macwhirter on the first instalment of Westbeach’s tour of the Dutch Domes.

A good time was had by all on the Endeavor Tignes trip. Hopefully Sam will find some time to write a brief resume soon. Good snow in the Alps seems to have cheered everyone up, and we're currently as busy as we can remember getting re-orders out to the shops. Let's hope the snow keeps falling and stays that way until the rest of us can get to the mountains.
December 2008
Sam is heading out to Tignes with the winners of the Endeavor unsponsored rider competitions at the Westbeach Snowflex championships. All reports say the snow is best ever for so early, so they should have a great week staying at Dragon Lodge. We'll try and post some photos through the week.

Exchange rate gloom
The pound has again reached record lows against the Euro today, with one for one looking increasingly likely. The pound has also lost around 25% against US dollar in the last few months. Prices on all imported things will be going up by around 25% next season. Since virtually all ski and snowboard gear is imported - that means everything.
next year a £300 board or pair of skis will be £400. low inflation or deflation?...no chance for Winter sports goods. Big credit crunch sales?.... We can't see it.
Silver lining?????? Well, you might as well splash out and buy it now - and there is certainly no point in waiting to see if it will be cheaper in resort. We have had French and German shops complaining to us that we're selling stuff too cheap and taking their market - our hearts are not bleeding that severely!

UK Movement skiers Emma Lonsdale, Gavin Mackay and jamie Mackay have been promoted to the international Movement team. We're proud to have helped them get there. It's taken a while for the Swiss to realise what a mass of talent we have here.
November 2008
Whitelines magazine gives out a few "testers favourite" badges and we're please to be able to tell you that the Aesthetiker "Gruba Libra" and the Endeavor "Board of Directors" get one each.
November 2008
Fall Line magazine also gives a few "Testers Favourite" badges, and Movement skis scoop a huge 5 of them for Yaka Jam.....Spark.....Kama Sutra.... Goliath.... and Spicy
Documet Magazine have just printed the results of their Blank board test, where they ask manufacturers to supply them with unmarked boards to be tested "blind". Perhaps not surprisingly, the big brands were mostly not willing to subject their kit to such objective testing. We sent boards from Option, Endeavor and Wild Duck, all of which got good reports. The results can be found by following the links off the individual brand pages on this site.
We have joined up with "Henry's Avalanche talks" to help promote Ortovox through the HAT tour. Henry and his staff all use Ortovox avalanche safety gear so it's a sensible partnership. We shared a stand at the London Metro ski show and have further co-operation planned.

Apologies for the complete failure to update the news section for ages - usual excuses.Hopefully it will now be updated regularly with news from our riders etc.
Things we should have let you know about before include......
Jamie and Gavin Mackay winning the Verbier Ride week.
Emma Lonsdale making it to the X Games, plus a string of her excellent European results.
All the news from the snowflex championships where we are heavily involved.
Loads of coverage of the Movement team in Fall Line magazine over the last couple of seasons
A string of top test results for Movement, Endeavor and Option.
The Ortovox S1 transceiver winning "best product" at the "Slide" trade show.
Here's a nice sequence of Mike Austin to set the scene for our new resolution to keep things updated.
While tidying up old news stories, there were a few I decided to leave here - old news, but worth remembering.

News from mark Kent
After damaging his back last season, SP & Demon rider Mark Kent is back in Morzine and as ever, providing us with some great photos. This one is SOOOO... SCARY!
Here's the commentary
Hi Dave
Good to hear from you. I'm sorry i haven't been in touch as well. Had a
really bad slam at the end of last season so no summer riding, but i've been
busy with the family furniture business. My back is fine now, and i've been
out in morzine since christmas. Had a really good start to the season so
far, in fact one of the best ever. Great snow and loads of kicker building
in the back country. Got some good footage so far for next years video and
plenty of photo's. Check out the attatchment it's pretty mental, but i
totaly got away with it and rode out in front of it. Lucky me.

What scares me, is how far up the mountain is the fracture line?!!!

Movement go mad in Morzine
Ben Thorburn and Gav and Jamie Mackay found a bit of time to chuck themselves off cliffs
Hi Dave,
Think you might still be out in 2Alps but here are the shots from last week in Morzine.
If you had it anythink like us then you'll have hit the jackpot too. We got perfect weather, with snow at the start and then bluebirds after that. There was enough snow to tick off a few cliffs I've been wanting to do for a while and Jamie and Gav were really pleased with the Gladiators.
I got some new orange outerwear so after a couple of years in the dark I should stand out more in the shots with any luck.
Gav's off to the Alps again in 3 weeks time to compete in the Euro tour and the Red Bull Monta Rosa Snowthrill so I think he's pretty happy with this weeks practice.
I havn't seen it yet but I think there are more shots of Jamie and myself in Fall Line with a Fiat Panda. Real nice... we're the new face of Fiat UK, yay!
Right that's the chat for now, hope everything is cool.
Cheers
Ben

SP & Endeavor Rider Mike Austin is crowned Best of British
Here's how we heard
Hi Dave,
Just a quick message to say that I won the Best of British Big Air on the
weekend! MIKE
26th October 2004
I was thinking about how many UK events we support
I wonder if any other company supports such a wide range of local grass roots stuff.Already this season we've helped with dry slope events at Halifax, Sheffield, Aldershot, Chatham. Llandudno, Plymouth, Bracknell. That's only the ones I can remeber. We do support Scottish events as well in the Winter, but are not as well in touch with the scene up there as we should be - so if you have an event, let us know - we may be able to help.
12th August 2004
National Big Air title goes to Wayne Taylor
Last Weekend, SP Wild Duck Rider Wayne Taylor won the AIM series Big Air title at Halifax slope. With Tom Bridges already holding the Halfpipe title, we just need one of our riders to grab the Slopestyle crown next month for a clean sweep of national titles for Wild Duck and SP.
Not bad when you consider our top freestyle board this season costs just £259.

Mark Kent sent this mail and photo from Morzine. Isn't it great to know that someone's out there doing this stuff for us!

Had a quick peek at the website and it looks good. Munson also brought out
the SP and Demon Brochures for me to have a look at. Next years SP stuff
looks really good especially the bindings, which look as though they have
come on leaps and bounds.
The Demon stuff looks good too and their team is amazing. They seem to cover
all the small things that you always need.
I am in Morzine again this winter and it has been good so far with plenty of
powder days some in the trees others out at full speed in the open fields. I
have been shooting photos for SUK and there seems to be some good stuff
already in the bag. Check out the attatchment. I have been out riding with
Mike Austin a few times and we did a SUK trip to La Rosiere in Jan for next
years Mag. The snow wasn't very good but hopefully we got the job done.

Amazing the desperate lengths folk will go to get get some riding in October.
