December 2007
This is just a vague promise that I will soon actually put some news on this section.....honest....just as soon as I get time.
August 2006
We are involved with demo kit etc with the excellent "Our Camp" girls sessions.
Hi Guys,
Thanks for coming along to the launch of Our Camp at the Sno!zone, Xscape. We had such a good night and we know and appreciate how far people had to travel and all the bank holiday traffic you all had to contend with!
Some of you met Miles, who had a killer journey just to bring us Wild Duck and Endevor snowboards, Sp bindings and boots and Demon to demo. The boy did good, next time we need to drag him out for a drink!
I hope you feel you got the Our Camp vibe at Castleford. We’ve already booked dates for Milton Keynes 20th October, Braehead 17th November and Castleford 8th December. –So we’ll hopefully see you at one of those, if not at our winter Camps on the snow (starting January)

Danny Kass has opted to ride SP bindings
We heard at ISPO that Danny Kass has moved to SP bindings. Apparently he was unhappy with his previous bindings and tried several options before approaching SP. We're pretty pleased he liked them so much especially as there is still a bit of an American/European divide, which he was obviously happy to cross. He'll be using them at the Olympics - watch this space.

News from mark Kent
After damaging his back last season, SP & Demon rider Mark Kent is back in Morzine and as ever, providing us with some great photos. This one is SOOOO... SCARY!
Here's the commentary
Hi Dave
Good to hear from you. I'm sorry i haven't been in touch as well. Had a
really bad slam at the end of last season so no summer riding, but i've been
busy with the family furniture business. My back is fine now, and i've been
out in morzine since christmas. Had a really good start to the season so
far, in fact one of the best ever. Great snow and loads of kicker building
in the back country. Got some good footage so far for next years video and
plenty of photo's. Check out the attatchment it's pretty mental, but i
totaly got away with it and rode out in front of it. Lucky me.

What scares me, is how far up the mountain is the fracture line?!!!

Movement go mad in Morzine
Ben Thorburn and Gav and Jamie Mackay found a bit of time to chuck themselves off cliffs
Hi Dave,
Think you might still be out in 2Alps but here are the shots from last week in Morzine.
If you had it anythink like us then you'll have hit the jackpot too. We got perfect weather, with snow at the start and then bluebirds after that. There was enough snow to tick off a few cliffs I've been wanting to do for a while and Jamie and Gav were really pleased with the Gladiators.
I got some new orange outerwear so after a couple of years in the dark I should stand out more in the shots with any luck.
Gav's off to the Alps again in 3 weeks time to compete in the Euro tour and the Red Bull Monta Rosa Snowthrill so I think he's pretty happy with this weeks practice.
I havn't seen it yet but I think there are more shots of Jamie and myself in Fall Line with a Fiat Panda. Real nice... we're the new face of Fiat UK, yay!
Right that's the chat for now, hope everything is cool.
Cheers
Ben

SP & Endeavor Rider Mike Austin is crowned Best of British
Here's how we heard
Hi Dave,
Just a quick message to say that I won the Best of British Big Air on the
weekend! MIKE
Here's a write-up of the event.
Surprises as new Best of British Champions are crowned
The 2005 Orange AIM Series Best of British showdown at the Daily Mail Ski and Snowboard Show on Friday the 14th October conjured many surprises after a very tight battle between the UK’s top snowboarders and freestyle skiers.
The line-up for the afternoon qualifiers was a who’s who of British snowboarding and freestyle skiing. Taking on the snowboard battle were Gary Greenshields, Ryan Davis, James Thorne, Scott McMorris, Mike Austin, Sam Cullum, Danny Wheeler, Nate Kern, Josh Wolf, Nelson Pratt, Stu Edwards, Tyler Chorlton, Jamie Nicholls and the first ever lady Mollie Percival. Fighting the ski corner were Tom Last, Jamie Cameron, Andy Bennett, Paddy Graham, Mike Wakefield, Brad Scott, Andrew Colin, James Woods, Eddie Thelwell and Murray Buchan.
All riders and skiers had just two practice runs and two judged runs, from which the best score counts, in both the qualifiers and the final. The top three scores in the final then went head to head in a one run super final. Considering the restrictions of an indoor jump with a much narrower, dicier run-in and landing area, the standard of riding was incredibly impressive. Going as fast and high as they possibly could in the quest to win the title, the watchful crowds witnessed a fine display including 5’s, 7’s, D-Spins and rodeos.
In the snowboard competition it was soon clear that the firm favourites, Orange Brits Big Air Champion Tyler Chorlton and Scott McMorris, Orange Brits Slopestyle Champion, were in for stiff competition from fellow contenders. Riding super well all day, Mike Austin definitely surprised with his strong front rodeo 7’s, as did 12 year old Jamie Nicholls who stood out among all the other riders double his age! After the qualifiers Tyler took the lead as he stomped a corked backside 720 mute grab, closely followed by Mike who also stomped his frontside rodeo 720. Following third was Ryan Davis with a cab 7 and Nate Kern, Sam Cullum, Scott McMorris, Danny Wheeler, Stu Edwards and Jamie Nicholls also went through to the evening’s final.
After a few hours rest the riders were back on top of the jump for the finals. Qualifying last into the final, Jamie Nicholls was on top form as he took revenge with a corked backside 7 to qualify third into the super final, equal with Mike Austin’s backside 720. Scott, who won the title last year, retaliated from his qualifying runs with a cork backside 7 indy to secure second spot in the super final just after Tyler, who held on to his lead with a clean cork backside 7 Japan.
After a rapid fire display by all riders and skiers that did not make the super final, four snowboarders and three skiers lined up for their one run chance to win the Best of British title 2005. Scott, who went for a corked backside 7, lost points as he messed up his landing finishing fourth. Taking third place Jamie went for the competitions first 900 but fell upon landing, as did Tyler performing another corked backside 7 Japan. Taking the title was a stunned Mike Austin with a frontside rodeo 7.

good conscience creation
buy anti greenhouse gas projects to offset your pollution
Those of us who fly as often as possible to ride in the mountains are guilty of adding to the pollution that may destroy the very environment we love. This site allows you to calculate the damage caused by your travel and offset it by paying for environment enhancing projects to redress the balance. Not really an excuse for ignoring our environmental responsibilities but does help the conscience. It is also surprisingly cheap - 4 return flights from Nottingham E.M. to Geneva create a charge of only £5. Pretty cheap way of acquiring some good karma I reckon. From now on all our business and pleasure flights will be balanced using the system.

I was thinking about how many UK events we support
I wonder if any other company supports such a wide range of local grass roots stuff.Already this season we've helped with dry slope events at Halifax, Sheffield, Aldershot, Chatham. Llandudno, Plymouth, Bracknell. That's only the ones I can remeber. We do support Scottish events as well in the Winter, but are not as well in touch with the scene up there as we should be - so if you have an event, let us know - we may be able to help.
23rd October 2004
We're proud to be sponsoring "Standing Sideways"

National Big Air title goes to Wayne Taylor
Last Weekend, SP Wild Duck Rider Wayne Taylor won the AIM series Big Air title at Halifax slope. With Tom Bridges already holding the Halfpipe title, we just need one of our riders to grab the Slopestyle crown next month for a clean sweep of national titles for Wild Duck and SP.
Not bad when you consider our top freestyle board this season costs just £259.
14th July 2004
Summer can be fun too. This track I found in Eastern crete went from here, 700 metres vertical to sea level.
30th June 2004

Mark Kent sent this mail and photo from Morzine. Isn't it great to know that someone's out there doing this stuff for us!

Had a quick peek at the website and it looks good. Munson also brought out
the SP and Demon Brochures for me to have a look at. Next years SP stuff
looks really good especially the bindings, which look as though they have
come on leaps and bounds.
The Demon stuff looks good too and their team is amazing. They seem to cover
all the small things that you always need.
I am in Morzine again this winter and it has been good so far with plenty of
powder days some in the trees others out at full speed in the open fields. I
have been shooting photos for SUK and there seems to be some good stuff
already in the bag. Check out the attatchment. I have been out riding with
Mike Austin a few times and we did a SUK trip to La Rosiere in Jan for next
years Mag. The snow wasn't very good but hopefully we got the job done.

15th January 2004 Wild Duck and SP clean up at AIM series events
Whitelines issue 52 just hit the post box. They have a section in this month's mag called"made in Britain".
Great to see that almost all the riders mentioned are riding Wild Duck and/or SP.
The report on the Sheffield leg of the AIM series mentions five riders for "stand-out riding" -
Rob Yeomans, Sam Cullem, Wayne Taylor, Tom Bridges, Terence Thompson. All were riding Wild Duck and SP!
Tom Bridges became the British halfpipe champion!
At the Halifax AIM series event it was a similar story with Wild Duck & SP riders taking many of the prizes.
Tom Bridges spins his way to the title despite his pants falling down!

Mike Austin sent this mail from Morzine where he's set to spend the season......
Been riding the Duckcifer for about a week now and I can honestly say it's
the best board i've ridden, it hold's down so well switch and it's got flex
and pop in all the right places. It's going to be great fun riding it this
season. The boots are great too, all my friends keep complaining of cold
feet and ill fitting boots. I just tell them mine are toasty warm and they
should buy SP!
