All S1 transceivers are designed so they can be updated with the latest software, so you can always be running the latest version. Your retailer may have the machine needed to perform the update, so best to contact them first. If you have any difficulty, then get in touch with us.
The earliest versions of the S1 did not have this update capability and for these models, we offer a free upgrade to the latest version.

There has recently been some discussion in the web forums about the safety of using older analogue transceivers. In particular, an article in the usually excellent pisthors.com seemed to suggest that Ortovox F1 models should no longer be used. Ortovox have in fact suggested that they can no longer repair one version of the F1 from pre 1981, but all other models are fine. The Pistehors article showed a photo of the F1 focus model which is totally unaffected.
All Ortovox transceivers since 1981 continue to transmit and receive according to the world standard. Here is the Ortovox statement.
