This view is why I bought the building plot from where the photo was taken
The view is looking North and the peaks are about 2500 metres. On the Eastern flank of the mountains you can see a track.

It goes up to about 1750 metres just below the ridge, before going around the back of the peaks in the first picture and dropping down to a plateau at 1400 metres.
I have spent a lot of time looking at this view and planning a ride up there.

When I set off there was a bit of cloud in the valley, but I expected that to soon burn off. Here is the view from the first hairpin on the way up.
The view obviously wasn’t quite as spectacular as I had hoped! Still it meant it was much cooler and as the slope faces South, that was certainly an issue, as temp at sea level was in the mid 30s.

looking down from the ridge

And down on the plateau the clouds lifted a bit

There is a small taverna here where I had lunch before setting back the way I had come. There may be other ways to get down, but I didn’t fancy too much exploring with the cloud as it was.
Here is the col on the way back

The road was paved at either end of the ride, rough track for the rest.

And this is looking back to the mountains from back at the apartment in the evening
Nice to know now I sit and look at that view, that I’ve been up there.
Obviously,I’ll have to go back up on a clear day to get the view. The taverna at the top has a couple of cheap rooms, so I may go up and spend a couple of days exploring the tracks up there.
10 hours total trip about 110 Km
And 3000 metres climbing
1 sore arse
but legs were fine.
